I called up a reporter I knew in Bangalore Mirror. Within 30 mins she was there and she spoke to the returning officer there. She too was not convinced and said she has taken a detailed report along with my letter that was signed by them. Alas nothing happened after that. Neither did it get published nor the problem got highlighted. As a matter of fact I sent mails to Deccan Herald & Times as well. In the famil except for mine, all other's names was seen in the Deleted list. When my parents asked the people who were incharge of the booth they had no clue or explanation. My cousin went to vote in his constituency(Malleswaram) and found out that the voting machines were not working properly, leading to a huge delay in one person voting. Upon questioning the volunteers there, he was told that the machines are fine and he simply vote and go. So he called up the TV9 channel, who came to the spot and started telecasting this. The volunteers then became conscious as they would be screened on air and set things right. The officers think that they can get away with such nuisance and we as citizens should expose them. The fact that they deleted your name while every bit of information was verified (given the fact that you had the "small" slip) shows that the officers have been negligent and are now making excuses to get out the situation. A disappointment really... Wonder how many more people faced the same problem. This happened to my dad a couple of elections ago, and is extremely frustrating. It was rectified in the subsequent elections, so he has voted since.
